Drugstore foundation review!

Hello everyone! Happy memorial day!!^0^ I hope you all are enjoying the extra day off. Today I am doing a comparison review(I know, again! I guess I really like comparisons, haha^0^)between 2 drugstore foundations I have been trying lately.

The first one I got was the Revlon color stay foundation, I picked out the lightest shade, which is 110 ivory. I was kind of wrong on the shade maybe, because it gives me that white mask look, the shade definitely appears lighter than what you see in the bottle, so this one was kind of a fail, but I used a darker powder to set it, and it works fine.

Texture: very smooth
function: pretty hydrating and stays on very well
coverage: full
color: a little too light
SPF: 15
overall: 4/5
repurchase: if I find a better shade, yes!

The other foundation is the L'oreal infallible 18hr foundation. I am the shade classic ivory, 603. This is L'oreal's new line. But this one kind of disappointed me a little bit, because this appears kind of caky on me, and it was a little drying. The texture is not as smooth either. I think this is more suitable for people with oily skin, because it does control shine pretty will, and it does stay on very well, if you are not supre oily, you probably don't even need touch up with this one for the whole day.

Texture: a little caky, better for oily skin
function: a little drying but stays on VERY well
coverage: medium to full
color: just right for me
SPF: 20
overall: 3/5
repurchase: no

I have not tried a lot of drugstore foundtaions yet, because I'm pretty particular about base makeup, I normally use high end products, especially base products. But if you know and drugstore foundations that are really nice and will work for my skin, please let me know! Thanks for reading and enjoy the rest for the day!^0^
Stay pretty and stay tuned!

My Favourite High End lipsticks!

Hello everyone! Happy Friday and happy memorial weekend! I am really excited about this break because I may be going to Washington D.C. tomorrow or Sunday if it doesn't rain. But anyway, I am just really glad that we can get an extra day off.
Today I am showing you my Top 5 high end lipsticks. I brought more lipsticks with me, but these 5 are my favourties so far. I haven't try enough drugstore ones to do a "favourite drugstore lipstick" post, I have pretty dry lips and I do think that high end lipsticks work better on me.
I do prefer lipsticks over lipglosses, although I have more lipgloses than lipsticks, but I use my lipticks so much more often because I like how lipsticks give you a very subtle and light finish, and most importantly, they will not stick to your hair on a windy day, haha!^0^
Ok,no more blabbing, here are they!

Now let's look at them one by one!

No.1: Paul & Joe Lipstick N 04
My favourite lipstick so far, and it will probably stay this way for a long time until I find another amazing one.
The color is so pretty and fresh. Also, P & J has one of the best lipstick formula, their lipsticks feel like a lip balm, goes on really smooth and is not drying at all!

Natural light (since it's in the evening, and it is about to rain, the lighting is not as good, sorry!)

Yellow light! (a lot better^0^)

No. 2: Dior Addict High Shine lipstick 554
You all know that I am addicted to Dior now (You can clearly see that from my wish lit, haha^0^!) I also really like the texture of the Dior lipsticks, also very moiturizing and smooth, also the color of this lipstick is amazing for parties or going out at night.

Bad natural lighting!

Yello light, you can see that the light washes out the color a little but, which will make you more approachable in parties with yellow light.

No. 3: Paul & Joe lipstick N 19
Another P & J one, now you know that I really love their lipsticks!^0^ I am getting more this fall after I go back to school, yeah~
A cute peachy color!

Natural light!

Yello light! L like how the P & J lipsticks give your lips a very nice shine, it's not shimmery, but just a bit of glossy shine, especially under yellow light.

No. 4: YSL Rouge Volupe lipstick 26 Tender Peach
One of my most expensive lipsticks. (I have a Lunasol one that is more expensive than this one, but I couldn't find it now. I am pretty it's goona appear after I finish this post, but as of now it is gone. But I do like my lunasol one a lot!)
The color is a nude peach color, the texture is super smooth!! However, I highly recommend to USE A LIP BRUSH WITH THIS LIPSTICK!! I found that using a lip brush with this one brings out the best effect.

Natural light! Very subtle color!

Yellow light, why does it turn a little pink?!?

No. 5: MAC Viva Glam Gaga Lipstick
This is a Lustre finish, and the only MAC lipstick I own so far. (I am planning on getting more though.) I really like the color, and this one is suprisingly moisturizing, not like some other MAC lipsticks I have tried (all returned) that are really drying.
A lot of people think this lipstick is really intense and good for a party look, but I actually think it looks just as good as a everyday lipstick, just make sure you don't apply a very think layer. If you just do a thin layer, it's really cute and nice for the day, and you can just layer it on for a night out.

Doesn't it look cute even under natural lighting?

Yellow light! Just a thin layer does the perfect job!

Here are some additional swatches!

I did notice that almost all my lipsticks does not contain shimmer (beside my Lunasol one that I cannot find), I do like non-shimmery lipsticks better, but I don't mind the ones with a little bit of fine shimmers, but definitely not the ones with tons of glitters.

Thank you so much for reading and have a wonderful 3-day-weekend!!!
Stay very pretty and stay tuned!

FOTD: Cute Spring picnic look + the famous NARS dupes

Hello, everyone, I know I haven't done a tutorial for a long time, so here is a cute spring everyday look. Great if you're going to go picnic or something like that, so I hope you'll enjoy the look!^0^
For face, I just go with a very lightweight base. I primed my face using Laura Mercier face primer (mineral), and used Laura Mercier Mineral foundation in Real sand, the LM secret concealer in No. 2 and set it with the MUFE HD power.

Here is the eye makeup.

It's too easy for a step by step, so I'm just gonna walk you through it. I only used one eye palette, which is the covergirl 3 color eye palette in 110 shimmering sand.

I used the pink highlighting color on the inner half of my lid and used the darkest color on the left for the outer a half and blend the two colors together with the middle color.

For eye/nose contouring:

Then I use my cover girl eye contouring palette in 215 country wood to contour my nose (you can choose any of the dark colors, I used the one on the very left, you can adjust it according to your skin tone) and highlight my brow bone(using the creme color).

OK, now I'm gonna show you the blush and highlighter I used, and they are almost the very exact dupe of the famous NARS blush and highlighter, keep reading!

For cheek I used the Revlon power blush, which is my favourite blush. This is almost a exact dupe of the NARS orgasm blush, I got this about a year ago before orgasm got really famous, I guess I was just way ahead of the gamem haha!^0^

The coolest thing about these is that they have a little mirror that just pop out if you push the little black button on the right. (I got these from china, so I think it's probably of a different design in the U.S., but I'm not sure.)

The highligher is also the Revlon powder blush, just the white one, it has very fine pearl shimmers in it. This is almost the exact dupe of NARS Albatross highlihter. It also has that little mirror which is very cool and convenient.

These two products are too similar to orgasm and albatross that I can't even tell any difference at all on my face (I tried the original NARS ones in sephora to do the comparison), and they have AWESOME quality, so if you can find these in drugstore, definitely go get it. However, I got these in china, so I don't know the shade of the blush, but for the highlighter I'm pretty sure it only comes with one shade. So I hope you guys can find them in the U.S.

Ok, so back to the look. I finished it off with the softlip pomegrant lip balm as a base and P&J lipstick in 04.

So here we go, a cute spring picnic look, I called it a picnic look, just because the hait style I did was kind of casual, so it's not really suitable for office. More pictures:

This one is my favourite! What do you think?

Sunday again, which means work starts tomorrow, oh well, I don't even want to think about that. Hope you'll enjoy the rest of the day and have a great week ahead!
Stay pretty and stay tuned!

Mask Review-- My Beauty Diary + The best way to use masks!

Hello everyone! Happy weekend! Work has been more stressful than I thought, so I'm just really glad that it's weekend now!^0^
Today I am going to do the secomd part of my mask review. Last time, I reviewed all Silk Whitia Masks(A long time ago, haha!), and this time I'm going to review all My Beauty Diary Masks. I kinow many of you have tried their masks already, but just a few thoughts from me. So here we go!
I got 2 different sets from sasa.com. The "Brightening Set" and the "Whitening set". I kind of wanted to do a comparison between these two in terms of effect.

Here is the Brightening Set!

The whitening set!

The Brightening set consist of Aloe, Natto, Bulgarian white rose and one piece of white gold mask.
Aloe: Pretty moisturizing and gentle, leaves skin really soft and smooth. 4/5
Natto: Too sad that I'm allergic to this one. I think it is probably because of the flavonol in there. 0/5
Bulgarian white rose: My favourite in this set, gentle and has amazing scent. 5/5
White gold: I am allergic to this one also, I think I'm not very suitable for things that contains metal ingredients. 0/5

The whitening set consist of Japanese Cherry Blossom, black pearl, red vine and one piece of white peony mask. I like this set a lot more than the other one, because I am not allergic to any type in this set.
Japanese cherry blossom: one of my favourites in this set. Very nice scent, moisturizing and calming. 5/5
Black Pearl: I like this one a lot also, it brightenings up my complextion. 5/5!
Red Vine: Has a red wine scent, very relaxing, but the effect is just OK. 4/5
White Peony: my absolute favourite in this set, very nice scent, moisturing and whitening. You can see immediate effect right after you take the mask off. 5.5/5!

In general, I will probably repurchase the whitening set, but definitely not the brightening set. However, My Beauty Diary had came out with a lot of different favors, so I might try out new things before I repurchase anything, but the white peony mask is really my favourtie!

What is the best way to use masks?
I have tried a lot of differnt patterns of using masks, and I found that using masks everyday is not the best way to bring out the effects of the masks.

Here are some of my experiments:
1. Using the same type of mask everyday for a week.
Result: The skin only gets the same treatment, after about 2-3 days, the masks have no effect anymore.

2. Using different masks everyday for a week
Result: The skin gets irritated, starts to break out. That is because mask is a type of intensive treatment, it is too heavy for the skin to take a mask everyday, the skin could not adjust to it, so irritation, allergic reaction, and break outs happen.

3. Using different masks 2-3 times a week.
Result: This is the best way to use masks. Different masks focus on different treatment for your skin, and 2-3 times a week will not be too heavy for your skin. I found that this method actually enhance the effect of the masks and truely give effective treatment to your skin.

This is just my experiment on my skin. Different people have different situations, this method may not apply to everyone, so you just need to find out the best way for your skin!
Thanks for reading and have a nice weekend!
Stay pretty and stay tuned!

Review: MUFE HD vs L'oreal Studio Secret

Hello everyone! I know, lots of reviews recently. That is because I have really not been buying any new stuff and didn't really have enough varieties of products to do tutorials. But I will be getting more new stuff soon, or hopefully soon, haha!^0^
Anyway, I am doing a comparison review on the MUFE primer and the L'oreal Stodio Secret one that I've been trying out recently.
I have 2 different MUFE HD Primers. One in 02 Mauve, which I used in a lot of my tutorials, is my favourite. It brightens up my complextion. However, I don't think it is comparable to the L'oreal Studio Secert, because the L'oreal one is only to provide a smooth canvas. So I'm comparing the MUFE one that does not contain any color-correcting fuction. I got a sample size of this from the "best of MUFE" kit. It is in a white color, it does not have color correcting fuctions.

Color: white/translucent
Texture: milky, liquid
Fuction: 4/5, does not really have anti-shine function
price: pretty high if you buy it on its own
repurchase: No- because I prefer the 02 mauve one (haha!^0^)

The L'oreal Studio Secert primer is a new product. It is pretty pricy compare to other drug store products. But this is not my favourite. It does make my skin feel really smooth and nice, but it also caused me to break out a little bit. I know it was not a problem for Fuz or my friend who tried the same thing with me. But since my skin is really hard to satisfy ^0^, I have to say that this is not my favourite.

Color: baby pink
Texture: mousse (very unique)
Function: 3.5/5 (caused break outs, but does smooth my skin)
Price: ok (a little high for drugstore, but definitely cheap than high-end stuff)
Repurchase? No- I really can't stand things that break me out.

P.S.: For the L'Oreal Primer, I think it is more of my skin's problem than the product's problem. So if you don't have weird skin like I do, then this will probably be a good fit for you if you're looking for a travel-friendly prime that will make your skin super smooth!

I hope the review helps! Have a great week ahead and I will talk to you guys soon!^0^

Review: Laura Mercier vs. Aupres

Hello everyone! Happy weekend! When I was in school, I always thought that working is better than school, but after I started working, I really hope that I could just take a break, haha!^0^
Anyway, today I am doing a comparising review on the two make-up removing cleansers I've been using.
The first one is the Aupres creamy cleasing cream I got from China about a year ago. I have used up the entire cleanser. (It lasted pretty long!) This is a very gentle makeup revomer. It has a cream texure, very smooth and gentle, but I found it a bit hard to rinse off with water. I have to use another regular cleanser after that to make me feel perfectly clean.
Here is the packaging, quite nice~

Scent: None
Texture: 5/5
Function: 4/5
Price: Fair
Repurchasing? Maybe

Next is the Laura Mercier Purifying Oil.LM is one of my favourite high end brand. Therefore, I'm crazy about all of their stuff (recently I also got really into Dior, haha!). I got the purifying oil about 2 weeks ago and I have actually really liked it.
It is called purifying "oil", but when you add a little bit of water to it, it turns into this milky texture that feels super good and not oily AT ALL!!!! I love how gentle this cleanser is and how it really helps remove ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING from your face. If you're someone who wants an effective one-step cleanser, this is a great thing to try out! Too bad that I'm that type of person whom needs two steps of cleansing. I don't care how good the make-up removing cleanser is; I just need to use a regular cleanser after that to make me feel secure, haha!
Here are the pictures for this one! I love how elegant the packaging is, but it' s little hard to pump out because it's really hard to hold it with one hand and dip it.

Scent: a little make-up scent, not too bad 4/5
Texture: turns milky after adding a little bit of water; very gentle 5/5
Function:5/5
Price: high ($40)
Repurchasing? Yes! (Because I love LM soooo much, haha!)

OK. That's my thoughts on these products. I hope all of you have a wonerful weekend!
Stay pretty and stay tuned!

Look of the day- Wearble Silver

Hello everyone! Since I started to work in the office today, so I don't really have a whole lot of time to do full face tutorials, but I thought I'd do a look of the day for you guys.
So this is a soft wearable silver look that is great for everyday work/school (if you're still in school). But a lot of people are afraid to use dark colors in the summer, but I think a look like this will be totally fine for all of you cool tone lovers! Hope you enjoy the look!^0^

Products Used:
Majolica Majorca Jewling eyes SV887
Lunasol Christmas 2009 LE palette ( I just used the darkest gray color to darken the outer corner)
MUFE Aqua Eyes 0L
Fiberwig Mascara

Then I did a cute coral lip with the Laura Mercier Lip gloss in Bellini. It's bright coral shade, but I don't know why coral/peachy color always show up kind of pink on me, haha, my lips are weird.^0^

Under natural lighting!

Yellow light!

I didn't take a whole face picture because I don't really like my hair today, haha!^0^ Anyway, have a nice day!
Stay pretty and stay tuned!
